Are Credit Cards Evil? The Dangers Of Not Reviewing Your Credit Card Offers
When you receive a new credit card, do you always read the fine print? Many times we are thrilled to switch our balance over to another credit card with a lower interest rate. It is so comforting to read about all of the perks that the new credit card has to offer.
The trap is always in not completely knowing all of the details.
To make sure that you really are signing up for a good deal on a new credit card, always take these steps. First be sure that you understand what terms the bank is offering you. Write out all questions that you do not understand about the offer. Contact the customer service department. Ask them each of your questions. If that particular representative can not answer your question, see who is there who can answer your question definitively.
Understand the time limits. If there is a time limit on how long you will receive a great interest rate, mark that day on your calendar. If you are switching cards in order to get your credit card debt under control, paying off the balance by this date is imperative.
Most late payments are billed to your account, because you did not do enough planning. Know what fees are charged by this bank. Find out exactly when a payment is considered late, so that you can avoid late payments. Sending in a payment by regular mail three or four days before it is due, is a sure way to incur late payment fees. Plan in advance to send your payment in with enough time to be properly credited to your account.
By taking the time to fully understand your credit card offers you’ll save money. Most importantly you will be using credit wisely. Keeping good credit, and increasing your credit score is very important. There are good credit card offers out there, be sure that you are educated on what you are signing up for.
